Westphalia's proud mining heritage originates from the German Ruhr region – birthplace of Europe's industrial revolution and center of hard coal production.
This region produced the coal syndicate that supplied half of Europe's energy needs through the 20th century.

Anybody who has been trying to source coal from Indonesia will have experienced the challenging environment of this intransparent and fast-moving market, which has seen many buyers empty-handed at the end of their sourcing endeavours.
At the same time Indonesia's abundant coal resources, its strategic geographic location close to the booming East and South-East Asian end-user markets and its cost efficient open-cut coal reserves make it a must have procurement location.
Decades of experience supplying European power plants like RWE, E.ON and Steag combined with local operational knowledge ensures reliable delivery.
Operations
We established Westphalia Mining with the objective of acting as the sole sourcing and supply partner for Indonesia origin coal of any type of Indonesian coal specification to our foreign based customers.
To meet this target, we are operating in three modes:

As a comprehensive mining company supplying coal from our own coal mining concessions.

As partner of Indonesian concession owners with Westphalia Mining having full control of all mining, logistics and marketing activities.

As a coal trading company, sourcing coal from reputable mid-sized and large-sized coal producing mines, involving long-term offtake arrangements.
